Gaga over latex

Lady GaGa seems to be gaga over latex, excuse the pun.  It seems rubber clothing is the hottest new thing for top female performers in the music industry with Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Lady GaGa consistently wearing designs made from latex sheeting.

Gaga’s latest stunt involved showing up for the Grammy’s inside a giant plastic egg carried by a team of latex covered servants.  Her show later entailed a legion of dancers in matching transparent latex with creative body makeup to give them a slightly less than human appearance.

While her fans loved it, industry insiders have criticized her for focusing too much on media stunts instead of focusing on her vocal and dancing talents.  The MJTrends staff are ‘little Monsters’ and definitely appreciate the artistic statements and heavy use of latex sheeting in her performances.  Check out the images and video below for a recap of her Grammy performance.

Below is a video of her arrival to the Grammy’s:

Even if some think she’s leaning too hard into spectacle, moments like the egg entrance and coordinated latex costumes are probably why her performances stay memorable long after the show ends.

The comparison to Rihanna and Katy Perry makes sense, but Gaga seems to push latex further into full-on performance art, especially with that almost alien body makeup you described.

Honestly, showing up inside a plastic egg feels like peak Gaga, and pairing it with all that latex sheeting just reinforces how central materials are to her stage identity.

That image of her arriving in a giant egg carried by latex-clad attendants is still wild to picture, but it definitely fits her whole theatrical persona and commitment to visual storytelling.

It’s interesting how latex has shifted from niche fashion to something mainstream performers use regularly, and Gaga’s Grammy entrance seems like a major moment in that trend.

I get why some insiders complain about the stunts, but the coordinated transparent latex outfits on the dancers sounded like a pretty intentional artistic choice, not just shock value.

The idea of a “legion” of dancers in matching transparent latex sounds visually intense, almost like a sci-fi scene rather than a typical Grammy performance.

I liked that you mentioned both the praise from fans and the criticism from the industry, because that tension really defines how people react to her more extreme looks.
