Popular Tips for Wearing Latex

BY admin on December 13, 2015

A-list celebrities and singers, from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian, have flocked to the latex clothing trend lately. The fabric allows for an incredible amount of stretch, virtually flattening any unwanted lumps and bumps. Fans of a bandage bodycon dress will love the quality of latex fabric, which is an easy way to create a smooth silhouette. Here are some important tips to note when it comes to wearing latex.

Buy a pair of inexpensive latex gloves or use some latex scraps and place them along your skin. Wait for an hour and then check back for any signs of a possible allergy. For the uninitiated, there are two types of latex garments in general, such as glued or molded. Moulded latex is created where liquid rubber is poured into molds to create a garment, and is the cheaper alternative out of the two. Glued latex is created from sheets of latex and attached together with adhesive. Glued pieces have a more fitted style with a higher shine when it comes to quality.

Next, you’ll want to pick the right fit, so remember to go a size down for a more accurate fit. Latex is very fitted, like a pair of bike shorts, so make sure your measurements are about two to three inches below your typical measurements for a form-fitting quality. When it comes to sliding into a latex garment, you might need an extra hand. Latex can be difficult to get out of, and you might need to have help when taking off the latex garment.

Depending on the actual garment, you’ll have to have a plan. Everyone is different, so some people may need to start at the bottom and work their way up. Take your time and work carefully to avoid any unnecessary accidents. When it comes to prepping in advance, you might need to get powder or another type of aid to wear latex. Powder is generally used for tops that will have to slide over your head, especially if you don’t want to mess up your makeup or hairstyling.

However, powder can also make the latex material seem a little dull and remove some of the shine. As an alternative, other people prefer using dressing aids or silicone lubricant for getting into latex garments. First, you’ll have to apply the aid to the inside of the garment and then apply it along the edges. If using powder, place a little bit on the skin where the garment will be placed. Remember, take your time and work slowly. It’s important not to rush it, especially to avoid any unfortunate rips tears. After dressing, you have the option of giving it a glossy shine. You might need to add a latex shine or silicone lubricant onto the garment to complete your look.
