Non-shiny latex

At London Fashion Week, a UK starlet certainly had all eyes on her with a jaw-dropping latex dress. Instead of a more traditional latex approach, where the style is glossy and sleek, this design featured a non-shiny latex fabric.

Ashley James was the center of attention with a revealing latex midi-dress. With a maroon red design, the starlet paired her look with a pink coat and a gold satchel at her side. The 29-year-old commanded attention with her sheer dress, revealing little to the imagination.

James was formerly on Made in Chelsea, and she completed her look with a pair of nude colored heels. Staying true with her ultra glam style, Ashley wore a smoky eye and left her blonde hair slicked back for a mesmerizing look. Ashley James is a strong believer in self-acceptance and showing love to oneself.

On her Instagram, Ashley wrote, “We can all feel beautiful or ugly in photos depending on the right angles and lights, just like me in these two images, which were taken two seconds apart. Why do we do this to ourselves? We wouldn’t be friends with someone if they made us feel like this, but we still do it to ourselves. Let’s all love and be kind to ourselves a lot more.”

The inclusion of DIY materials at the end was a nice touch, especially since recreating a matte latex look might require different finishing techniques than usual.

That sheer midi length in latex is already bold, but removing the shine somehow makes it look more editorial than clubwear. The nude heels were a smart, understated choice.

I found the idea of non-shiny latex really refreshing since most latex pieces rely on that high gloss finish. The maroon midi dress sounded especially striking against the pink coat combination.

Her Instagram quote about being kinder to ourselves gave the whole feature a more thoughtful angle. It balanced the focus on such a revealing and attention-grabbing outfit.

I didn’t expect non-gloss latex to have such an impact visually, but it clearly worked on the runway. The smoky eye and slicked-back hair completed that ultra glam vibe perfectly.

The styling choices were smart here, especially the pink coat over a maroon latex base. It softened what could have been an overwhelming outfit while keeping it fashion-forward.

The contrast between the matte latex and the usual polished look is what caught my attention here. Pairing it with nude heels kept it grounded despite the bold, sheer design.

Interesting to see latex moving away from that classic wet-look aesthetic. The matte finish probably photographs very differently, which ties nicely into her comments about lighting and angles.

Ashley’s comment about photos taken two seconds apart really stuck with me more than the outfit. It’s interesting how the article ties that message into such a daring latex look.

Sage Bennett

I like that the piece mentioned her Made in Chelsea background, since it gives context to her confident styling. The whole look felt intentional rather than just attention-seeking.

Logan Wren

Her message about self-acceptance added depth beyond just another fashion moment. It made the revealing latex dress feel more like a statement than just shock value.

The article made me curious about working with non-shiny latex compared to traditional polished sheets. I imagine the finish changes how seams and cuts show up.

Hayden Sloane

I appreciate that the article highlighted the non-traditional finish rather than just the celebrity moment. It makes me think matte latex could become a bigger trend soon.

Sydney Lane

What stood out most was how the matte latex changed the perception of the outfit’s boldness. It felt less costume-like and more like high fashion.

A maroon latex dress without shine feels more wearable somehow, even though it’s still quite revealing. The gold satchel detail helped break up the intensity of the look.

Rowan Pierce

The combination of a smoky eye and slicked-back blonde hair really emphasized the texture of the dress. Without the shine, those styling details had more room to stand out.
