You asked – we listened! We have a new color of latex sheeting available to you for 2023… drum roll please… Turquoise! It sits in-between our Caribbean sea green (jade green) and our Harbor blue.
It’s a beautiful color inspired by the gemstone, the sea, and the old world. Turquoise is a vivid blue color that has inspired many artists for centuries. Designers incorporate turquoise into their fashion lines to give their creations a modern vibe. Plus, there are many types of turquoise and many variations of blue. Everyone benefits from the creativity inspired by this beautiful hue!

It was all over the fashion runways. Women’s Wear Daily raved about Armani dresses in this color. Harper’s Bazaar called it one of the years biggest trends. At Britain’s film awards, celebrities partied in Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and Gucci variations of Turquoise. It’s even found its way down to casual wear, in jeans, T-shirts and slouchy overshirts.
And as often happens, what rides high in fashion ends up filtering down to other industries like home decor, textiles, and even the automotive industry. At MJTrends we actively seek out your feedback for what colors and fabrics to add to our existing lineup and Turquoise was the color that overwhelming won out. We’d love to hear from you, so if you’d like your voice heard there are two ways to do it: send us an email (sales@mjtrends.com), comment on this blog post, or after making a purchase fill out our 3 question survey to get a 10% off coupon – one of those questions is what colors you would most like us to add.

We are considering adding new laser cut latex lace and laser etched latex in 2023, but it’s been a very busy year and we have not yet cracked the nut on how to solve the labor shortage. We have increased our pay by 75% since the start of Covid and that has gotten us into a much better position than we were in last year, but it seems like the labor shortage that began with Covid is not going to end any time soon.
In response, we are moving our warehouse to a more automated setup and this should allow us to focus more of our staff’s time on creative outputs such as the latex lace designs and more experiments with our laser. We also know that many people are still waiting for us to release our custom latex sewing patterns, and unfortunately that project continues to sit on the back burner.

Part of the issue is that the custom-fit patterns don’t generate a lot of revenue and the other is that there is a considerable time and investment needed to get the system working again. It was more of a labor of love and an offering that we thought you would like than a business decision, and alas we have to work on other projects first.

It’s refreshing to see transparency about increasing pay by 75% and still dealing with staffing challenges. That context helps explain why some projects like laser etching are taking longer.
Seeing turquoise highlighted from runway brands like Armani and Gucci makes this feel like a timely release rather than just another color drop. It’s nice when materials align with what’s trending in fashion.
Interesting to hear about the labor shortage still impacting things like the laser cut latex lace plans. The move toward automation sounds like a practical step if it frees up time for more creative work.
The fact that Women’s Wear Daily and Harper’s Bazaar both called out turquoise this year makes me more confident choosing it for projects. It feels less risky when the trend is that widely recognized.
I like that you connected the color to both historical inspiration and modern design vibes. That balance makes turquoise feel versatile rather than overly trendy or niche.
The note about it filtering down from high fashion into casual wear like jeans and tees makes me think this color will have real staying power. It’s not just a fleeting trend shade.
I’ve always liked Caribbean sea green, but sometimes it leans too green, so having something more blue-leaning like this turquoise sounds perfect. The in-between positioning makes a lot of sense.
Glad you mentioned the custom latex sewing patterns, even if they’re delayed. It’s helpful to understand that it’s more of a labor-of-love project rather than a big revenue driver.
The survey incentive with the 10% coupon is a nice touch, and it’s cool that color suggestions directly influence releases like this. It makes the community feel involved in shaping the catalog.
The mention of different variations of turquoise is important because people often picture very different shades. I’m curious how saturated or bright your version actually is in person.
Turquoise feels like a smart addition since it bridges that gap between jade green and Harbor blue, which always felt a bit abrupt in the lineup. I can already picture it working for both bold pieces and subtle accents.
I appreciate that this color came directly from customer feedback, and it shows you’re actually listening. The description of it being inspired by gemstone and sea really helps visualize the exact tone.
Turquoise in latex sounds like it could really pop under different lighting, especially compared to the deeper Harbor blue. I’m interested to see how it photographs versus real life.
