Laminating/overlaying Vinyl to thicken gauge

Hi There,

I'm curious if anyone has ever tried, with success, gluing two sheets of vinyl PVS together and how it was done/ what glues you used? I want to overlay a 30 gauge Transparent Pink Vinyl on top of 80 gauge clear vinyl to make a belt with. I'm assuming its better to glue the sheets together first and then cut the belt out rather than the reverse. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

The clear vinyl on mjtrends is 6 gauge or 12 gauge and the latex sheeting comes in .30mm and .80mm.  I have to assume that you are trying to make a latex belt and not PVC?

Latex can be glued together using latex adhesive, so it shouldn't be any problem to adhere 2 pieces together to create a thicker one.  PVC is typically glued using the shiny sides of the material, so I don't think that's what you want to do.

The issue you might run into when gluing latex strips to make a belt, especially with semi-transparent latex, is ensuring that you avoid air bubbles.  You'll want to coat the glue evenly and then use a roller to press out any air and excess adhesive.

If you're successful, please post your results and what worked!
