Ammonia based glue

Anyone working with the ammonia based glue that can provide some tips? So far it's been horrible to work with, it's just liquid Latex which gives me a lot of residue on the edges and cleaning it usually ends up with lumps sticking all over the piece. It also creates lumps inside the seams almost permanently. Besides trying to apply it cleaner and thinner to the edges are there any tips for a cleaner work?

I'm not sure why you are getting clumps.  My guess is that you are letting the adhesive sit for too long prior to adhering the seams.  The adhesive should still be in it's liquid state, maybe a little bit tacky, prior to gluing the seam.  This will result in no lumps in the seam, and then when you press/roll the seam with a seam roller you'll push out any excess liquid glue and can wipe it up - again avoiding lumps at the edges of the seam.  Hope that helps!
