Comic-Con 2015 exploded with creative, awe-inspiring cosplay this year, from modern Marvel favorites to a few throwback costumes for a retro fix. Easily recognizable, Disney’s Maleficient made an appearance, along with a detailed Loki costume so real it had us do a double take. Three girls stole the show as “Chewbacca’s Angels” dressed as a femme fatale team of imaginary Wookies of Star Wars fame in lavender, turquoise and pale pink. Using everything unconventional from plastic weaponry, fabrics such as latex, wet look vinyl and faux leather to even pastel fur, cosplay fans worked magic to bring everyone’s beloved characters to life.
An instant classic, Catwoman was certainly no stranger to the San Diego Comic-Con this year, and one die-hard fan went for a head to toe look in wet look vinyl. With the pointed ear cat mask, O-ring choker, bustier and matching vinyl leggings, this Catwoman cosplay was definitely on point. Completing the look, this cosplay connoisseur strapped a fanny pack to keep all the con essentials and added full length gloves for a flair of drama. Equally badass, a striking Domino cosplay from X-men fame in wet look vinyl had heads turning. One cosplayer wore a fitted black vinyl bustier with a zip-up jacket and skin tight leggings. Six gun holsters, all white makeup and thigh-high lace up boots gave this look it’s finishing touch.
Wildly wonderful, another highlight was an all white latex Princess Leia costume. Featuring a form-fitting hooded outfit, she kept in character with a thick white belt at the waist and knee high silver lace up boots. Faux leather was used in abundance, ranging from a seriously kick butt Hellgirl costume to a fierce Harley Quinn outfit. Her intense make up definitely brought her Hellgirl character to life, complete with all red cosmetics, horns and a stone glove packing some knock out power. Her oversized faux leather jacket brought her character to the real world, and she styled the look with a leather gun holster, faded tights and lace up ankle boots.
One of our personal favorites, one cosplay fan stopped convention traffic in her faux leather Harley Quinn costume. With her signature red and black color scheme, she rocked a red and black lace up corset bralette, adorned with D ring belt straps, spikes and detailed embroidery. She added full length, studded gloves and mismatched thigh-high boots in contrasting colors to bring Harley Quinn to life. Take a look at these incredible cosplay costumes using latex, wet look vinyl and faux leather from San Diego Comic Con 2015 for a little inspiration for your next look!

That Domino outfit sounds intense with six gun holsters and all white makeup, definitely one of those costumes that requires total commitment to pull off.
The all white latex Princess Leia is such a fresh take compared to the usual buns and robe, the hooded design sounds sleek and futuristic.
I like that you mentioned materials like faux leather and vinyl instead of just characters, it gives real insight into how these looks are built.
The Catwoman description with the O-ring choker and fanny pack was oddly practical, it’s cool seeing functionality mixed into a full-on vinyl look.
The Hellgirl stone glove detail paired with the leather holster sounds like a fun mix of fantasy and tactical styling.
I didn’t expect pastel fur Wookies to work, but the way you described Chewbacca’s Angels makes it sound like a standout moment.
The Chewbacca’s Angels trio in pastel fur was such a clever twist, I could picture the lavender and turquoise standing out in a sea of darker costumes.
That Loki mention makes me wonder how many people stopped him for photos, because a convincing Loki always draws a crowd.
The Harley Quinn with embroidered details and spikes seems way more intricate than the typical versions you see every year.
It’s cool seeing how cosplay evolves with materials like wet look vinyl becoming more popular for that polished, almost cinematic finish.
The Domino outfit sounds like it had a strong silhouette with the bustier and jacket combo, plus the thigh-high boots really complete it.
I liked how you highlighted the mix of materials like latex and wet look vinyl, it really shows how much texture plays into making these characters believable.
The Hellgirl cosplay with the oversized faux leather jacket and red makeup seems like it balanced comic accuracy with a streetwear vibe.
That Catwoman fanny pack detail made me laugh, but honestly it’s probably the most realistic addition for surviving a long day at Comic-Con.
I can imagine how striking the white latex Leia looked against the usual darker costumes, especially with those silver lace-up boots.
The mix of retro characters like Maleficent with newer Marvel looks shows how wide the cosplay spectrum was that year.
That Loki cosplay must have been insanely detailed if it made people double take, I always appreciate when someone nails the armor and attitude together.
Harley Quinn always shows up, but the corset bralette with D ring straps and mismatched boots sounds like it had extra edge this year.
It’s interesting how vinyl keeps popping up across multiple characters like Catwoman and Domino, it really emphasizes that glossy, comic-book aesthetic.
The Chewbacca’s Angels concept feels like something that could become a recurring group cosplay, especially with those coordinated pastel colors.
