Givenchy use of zippers

BY admin on January 29, 2016

Ethereal and distinctly feminine, Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy Couture collection for Spring/Summer 2011 was a dream come true. With an opulent backdrop, the couture collection featured rows of cream colored dresses, adorned with decorative zippers and bold pops of color. The collection was all about contrast, showcasing swoon worthy gowns with edgy zippers in a fresh, unique way.

One instance featured the zipper placement right around a model’s waist. Another set of zippers served as trim along the armhole edges, definitely a big wow factor. The zippers used appear to be doubled ended zippers, similar to those found on athletic bags or track jackets. Other unique materials used included ostrich feathers, swan designs, cranes and rows of abstract patterning.

Inspired by Japanese dancer Kazuo Ohno, Tisci combined architectural design elements with soft, feminine silhouettes. Many of the gowns featured gorgeous cut out detailing, with the models showing off dipped hems along the back. Don’t look for any basic black here, this collection was all about beige, cream and subtle hints of grey.

Wide zippers and oversized belts served as obi around the waist of dreamy, feathery dresses. For an added bit of glam, the designer opted for gold accents, such as glimmering watches. Add some edge into your wardrobe with a modern new way to attach zippers. Ready to start on a project of your own?
