How to wear A-line leather skirt

In their solo work, Sydne Summer and Devon Rachel are known for their classic sense of style, but together, they know to relate to the everyday woman. In a series of videos entitled Petite & Tall, both bloggers show viewers how to wear major trends.

In one video, the bloggers decided to give women some tips about how to wear an a-line leather skirt. For Sydne, she decided to go for a miniskirt style, complete with an extra amount of flare. To keep things slightly edgy, Sydne opted for a black leather skirt with two asymmetrical zippered pockets on the side.

Create contrast with your own look by wearing a lace top, complete with subtle yet sexy sheer cutout designs. If you’re petite, remember to balance out a miniskirt by wearing a chunky platform heel. Sydne decided to go for a beige pair of ankle strap heel. A neutral color like beige or tan is a perfect way to keep things look classy and put together.

On a similar note, Devon decided to opt for an a-line skirt with slightly less flare. Instead of a lace top, Devon chose a button up blouse in a bold shade of yellow. Keep things looking feminine and flirty by choosing a blouse with a cute bow at the neckline.

For tall frames, be sure to try wearing this look with a bootie to avoid showing too much leg. Devon decided to keep things playful by wearing a pair of glittery black peep toe booties. For accessories, less is more, so opt for muted extras like a delicate pendant necklace or a bracelet or two.

I liked how Sydne balanced the edgy black leather mini with that lace top; the sheer cutouts keep it feminine instead of too harsh. The tip about beige ankle strap heels really pulled the look together.

The article does a good job showing how the same piece can lean edgy or feminine depending on styling. The bow neckline detail on Devon’s blouse was a nice touch.

I’ve struggled with A-line leather skirts feeling too stiff, but the suggestion of softer tops like lace or flowy blouses helps balance that structure.

Devon’s background and goal of empowering women through style comes through in her outfit choice. The playful elements like the bow and glittery booties make it feel approachable.

Sydne’s neutral heel choice is underrated advice; beige or tan really elongates the leg with a mini. It keeps the outfit polished instead of overly trendy.

I wouldn’t have thought to pair a leather skirt with lace, but Sydne’s version feels wearable. The asymmetrical zip pockets add just enough detail without needing heavy accessories.

Drew Collins

Devon’s idea of wearing booties to avoid showing too much leg for taller frames is practical advice. The glittery peep toe choice adds personality without overwhelming the outfit.

Emerson Gray

I like that the article considers height differences instead of giving one-size-fits-all advice. The platform heel versus bootie suggestion is simple but effective.

I appreciate that both looks used contrast differently—Sydne with texture and Devon with color. The bold yellow blouse really livens up the darker skirt.

The Petite & Tall comparison was actually useful because you rarely see both body types styled side by side. Devon’s yellow bow blouse softened the leather in a really approachable way.

Riley Harper

It was interesting to see how less flare on Devon’s skirt changed the whole vibe compared to Sydne’s fuller mini. It feels more subtle but still stylish.

The reminder to keep accessories minimal stood out to me because leather can already be a statement. A delicate pendant or simple bracelet feels like the right restraint.

Blair Sutton

The asymmetrical zip pockets are a small detail, but they make Sydne’s skirt feel more modern. It avoids looking like a basic leather piece.

That note about chunky platform heels for petites makes so much sense with a flared mini. It adds height without making the proportions look off, especially with the shorter hemline.
