Chrissy Metz in Latex for MTV Movie Awards 2017

Actress Chrissy Metz is best known for her starring role as Kate Pearson in the smash hit television series “This Is Us”. The 36-year-old actress recently made headlines as she stunned in a bold latex look. Metz opted for a bright red latex number, complete with a voluminous burgundy toned dress.

The babydoll style dress included flirty details, like textured peplum accents at the shoulders. Metz looked radiant in her new daring look, but she quickly fell victim to some vicious trolls on Twitter.

Unfazed, Chrissy responded with a bold clapback. “For the record, I wear what I want, when I want. News flash it’s MY body. #thankstho,” she tweeted in response. To complete her look, Metz stepped out in a pair of pointed flats and kept her hair loose at her shoulders.

Looking bold and chic, Metz is a perfect example of feeling empowered and confident when it comes to fashion. When asked about the negative controversy she faced because of her latex look, Metz said that she had “no idea” that it would make anyone feel uncomfortable at all. “All I’m saying, is do YOU, Boo! Wear what you want, love you love and treat people the way you want to be treated,” Metz said.

Other Twitter users rallied to her side, expressing their positive messages of support. “Own it beauty!” said Mackenzie Hancsicsak from Santa Clarita, CA. “That’s my girl! Haters gonna hate, don’t listen to them! You’re gorgeous!” tweeted Sophie, and Alex Nicole declared, “Um you slayed it tonight so… #haterstotheleft”.

The actress walked out with her fellow costar Milo Ventimiglia in order to present the Best Duo award. Eager to try a bold latex look of your own? Make sure to check out our wide array of latex fabric options here at MJTrends.

The babydoll silhouette with latex is such an unexpected combo, and I think that’s why it stood out at the MTV Movie Awards. Pairing it with pointed flats kept it from feeling overdone.

Finley Hart

I didn’t realize she wore it while presenting Best Duo with Milo Ventimiglia, which makes the whole moment feel even more iconic. The loose hair and flats balanced the boldness nicely.

The mix of bright red latex and a voluminous dress shape is something you don’t see often, and I appreciate that the article highlighted that contrast instead of just the controversy.

Blair Sutton

What stuck with me was her quote about “it’s MY body,” because it fits perfectly with taking fashion risks like latex. The article really captured how confident she seemed despite the backlash.

Hayden Sloane

Her “do YOU, Boo!” quote really sums up the message here, and it’s nice that the article focused on empowerment rather than just the drama around her outfit.

Riley Harper

I think people overlook how thoughtful the styling was, from the shoulder details to the loose hair. It wasn’t just shock value, it was actually put together with care.

Emerson Gray

I like that the piece mentioned the supportive tweets from fans, not just the negativity. It shows how many people actually appreciated her confidence and the bold look.

Honestly, the textured peplum accents at the shoulders sound like such a fun detail, especially in latex. It’s cool to see the material used in a softer, more feminine shape.

Blair Sutton

Wearing latex in a babydoll style feels like a smart entry point for anyone curious about the material, which ties in nicely with the MJTrends suggestion at the end.

Blair Sutton

Her reaction to the trolls was refreshing, especially saying she had no idea it would make people uncomfortable. That says more about the critics than her outfit choice.

Taylor Quinn

I actually loved the description of the bright red latex with the burgundy tones and peplum shoulders, it sounds playful rather than intimidating. Her response on Twitter was the best part though, completely shut down the negativity.

Jamie Brooks

The fact she chose pointed flats instead of heels makes the outfit feel more wearable, even with latex. That detail made the whole look seem more approachable.

Finley Hart

Seeing someone known for This Is Us step out in something as bold as red latex is refreshing, and the article did a good job explaining why it resonated beyond just fashion gossip.
