Rihanna – love her or hate her, she gets people talking. We are undecided if she is a fashion icon, or a fashion victim. Her style is daring and edgy, but does she cross the line? Her latest outing involved mens underwear – Rihanna – what are you thinking!!??
Previously we loved her in a tightly cropped leather 3/4 trench, but pairing it with a pair of loose fitting leather jeans may have been overkill. The leather overalls shown below were an interesting twist on a material that is generally associated with sex-appeal. Overalls, being more agrarian than sexy, make for a striking contrast from the expected. View some of her leather-infused fashion statements below:

I think the article nails the dilemma because she can go from iconic to questionable in one outfit. The leather-on-leather overload is where she seems to tip into fashion victim territory.
Pairing that tight leather trench with baggy leather jeans seemed like too many competing statements at once. Separately they might shine, but together it lost the sharpness she usually has.
The underwear moment felt more like shock value than style evolution to me. She’s done edgy so well before, which is why this one felt more confusing than bold.
I actually liked the leather overalls idea because it flipped the usual sexy vibe of leather into something more playful and unexpected. It didn’t totally work, but at least it felt intentional.
The mens underwear look really threw me too, especially since she’s pulled off risky pieces before. That cropped leather trench was great, but the loose leather jeans made the whole outfit feel heavy.
There’s something interesting about using leather in non-traditional silhouettes like overalls, even if it leans awkward. It shows she’s willing to challenge the typical ‘sexy leather’ formula.
