Kendall Jenner in Vinyl for Vogue China
From Fendi’s Fall 2015 campaign to Kardashian family sushi dates, it-girl Kendall Jenner never ceases to make headlines. The latest in the the 19-year-old rising model’s fame is her latest shoot, nailing her first international Vogue cover, shot by Mario Testino for “Vogue China” July 2015 issue. Styled by Anastasia Barbieri, Jenner shined in a series of matching red and black themed looks alongside Chinese pop singer/actor Kris Wu.
Sizzling with chemistry, Jenner and Wu look confident with seriously fierce expressions on their cover shoot. While Wu kept things sharp with a black suit with red trim and miniature guitar, Jenner dazzled in a sequined cocktail dress and slick center part hairstyle. Representing the younger generation, the pair made for the perfect mix of East meets West, and Vogue China wanted to highlight the rising stars born after 1990, who are becoming more and more influential within society.
Although she has posed for US Vogue in the past, Kendall definitely stepped things up a notch with steamy vinyl pieces. The bold red and black color scheme made these series of pop-inspired photos stand out. In an unexpected move, PVC took center stage with Jenner wearing shimmery red and black vinyl outfits. A red full-length dress elevated the fabric into high fashion, completing the luxe look with an oversized hat and a casual set of pockets. Another look focused on texture, with a high collar and panels of red PVC in layers of peplum at the chest. Her dramatic 60’s-inspired smokey eye and glossy straight hairstyling gives this photoshoot a retro feel.
Jenner looked radiant in a daring asymmetrical Anthony Vaccarello dress and sexy thigh-high rubber boots. Another photo featured Wu and Kendall back to back, with Wu channeling a Sam Smith vibe in a pinstripe suit and studded creepers, while Jenner sported an off-the-shoulder paneled top and red layered skirt in leather. Moody and evocative, Wu looked pensive in a black coat paired with a red button up, while Jenner gazed off into the distance with a netted mask and black and red négligée. Since the shoot, Jenner has been spotted wearing leather leggings on her off-duty looks and even rocking sky high leather gladiators in Los Angeles. With a boost in her confidence, and it looks like Jenner is not slowing down anytime soon.
