Celebrities and singers alike stunned in snakeskin, latex and leather on the red carpet at the 2015 BET Awards on June 28th. When it comes to reptilian print, Tinashe and Karrueche Tran prove that exotic prints are here to stay. Tinashe kept things simple with natural makeup, straight hair and a deep v-neck halter top with wide leg pants.
Meanwhile, Karrueche Tran pumped up the volume in a snakeskin blazer layered over an itty bitty black bandeau and matching high-waisted pants. Host of the evening, Tracee Ellis Ross, went for a dressed-to-kill look in a familiar Atsuko Kudo latex ensemble. Kim Kardashian swears by her own Atsuko Kudo “Joy” pencil dress, rocking the style three times already, and once when she was showing off her baby bump. Looking confident in the form-fitting, blush colored latex dress, Ross showed that an epic latex look can look easy and effortless, too.
Lil Mama smoldered in a maroon PVC maxi dress, pouting with a matching rouge lipstick, giving her look a powerful edge. Her floor length, curve-skimming dress definitely kept things sexy with a thigh-high slit and a look-at-me shiny oil-slick inspired overtone.
Amber Rose and Blac Chyna got it right with classy-meets-sexy all white suits and bustiers, while Brandy and Janelle Monae played it pretty with versatile picks. One of our favorite looks of the evening, Brandy went for a sophisticated and cute look, wearing a high-necked long sleeved dress, which flared out into a skater skirt with tons of flirty volume. Fresh off her new video debut, “Yoga”, Janelle Monae looked put together in her go-to masculine yet feminine style. Monae opted for a simple black minidress and added on tons of arm candy, like stacked rings and layered bangles. Always one for playing up the drama, she added a floor length cape for a theatrical effect.
Steal Tori Kelly’s edgy style by choosing leather pieces with unexpected details, like oversized zippers. Kelly took the awards ceremony by storm with a black leather minidress, complete with a pair of silver zippers running down the sides and a set of playful pockets. This leather mini is definitely an of-the-moment pick for this season and beyond.
