Lorde’s Latex in Disclosure video

Electronica duo “Disclosure” takes things to new heights by recently unveiling a music video featuring New Zealand vocalist, Lorde. The 18-year old singer stole the show in a patent vinyl trench coat and latex jumpsuit for the “Magnets” music video. From heart pounding performances at Electric Daisy Carnival to the mega-popular hit “Latch” with Sam Smith, Disclosure is known for pushing the envelope artistically.

Looking bold and daring, Lorde sported a plunging latex catsuit. The video for “Magnets” takes place in a retro dreamland, evoking a Palm Springs vibe. Lorde’s character starts off with a wicked streak, showing seductive themes of adultery, with an unexpected twist. While viewers might feel disturbed at first, when you watch all the way to the end, you’ll understand completely.

“The most important part of the video is when you see her black eye as she turns away at the window.. hope it all make sense from that point,” Lorde tweeted.  Lorde literally looks dressed to kill in a head to toe latex ensemble. Her latex clad outfit is the perfect look for her onscreen assassin role. Talk about a perfect last minute Halloween costume that’s bound to turn heads!

The plunging latex catsuit works so well for the assassin angle, especially in that dreamy setting where everything feels polished but slightly off.

It’s interesting how the video starts seductive and almost glamorous, then slowly turns unsettling, which makes the latex look more like armor than just fashion.

Lorde really sells the character here, and the patent vinyl trench adds that extra layer of mystery before things take a darker turn.

I like how you pointed out the Halloween costume angle, because honestly that latex jumpsuit and coat combo would definitely stand out at any party.

That retro dreamland aesthetic mixed with a head-to-toe latex outfit is such a bold contrast, and somehow it fits Disclosure’s whole experimental vibe.

What stood out most to me was how the outfit wasn’t just for shock value, it actually reinforced her role as someone calculating and dangerous.

I didn’t expect the black eye detail to tie the whole story together, but once you notice it at the window scene, the whole adultery twist suddenly clicks.

The mention of Caracal makes me want to revisit the album, since this video feels like a visual extension of their more moody tracks.

Disclosure always pushes boundaries, but pairing their sound with such a narrative-heavy video and that striking latex look was a smart move.

Rowan Pierce

That patent vinyl trench coat really sets the tone before the catsuit reveal, it matches the retro Palm Springs vibe perfectly while still feeling modern and a bit dangerous.

Jordan Blake

The Palm Springs setting gives it that sun-soaked illusion, which makes the final twist and her bruised eye feel even more jarring.
