Celebrity Style: American Music Awards

2015 American Music Awards - ArrivalsWhen it comes to celebrity style, leather and gold was abound at the 2015 American Music Awards last week. Kylie Jenner had heads turning, boldly sporting a black leather dress with cut out detailing. Perhaps she was inspired by her Xena costume for Halloween, Kylie rocked this daring leather look with the confidence of a warrior princess.

Featuring a mockneck style, the leather dress had two main panels at the front, attached together with a series of chainmail links. The two extra leather pieces on her biceps seem to be a little extra, but definitely add a little drama to this medieval-inspired look. Her gal pal, Gigi Hadid, went for an equally alluring look with a lace up style crop top and side slit skirt. Others, like Gwen Stefani, Karrueche Tran and Ciara, opted for dresses with sheer see through details in all black tones.

In similar pursuit, Ellie Goulding wore an ultra revealing off the shoulder dress, featuring silver links, fringed tassels and an asymmetrical leather miniskirt. Joe Jonas rolled up with his squad, playing matchy matchy with a color-coordinated ensemble in maroon. Jonas gave off a serious punk-rocker vibe, wearing an edgy leather motorcycle jacket in an oxblood hue. Alanis Morissette took on the leather trend for herself, wearing an elegant long sleeve leather turtleneck tucked into a black maxi skirt.

While Jennifer Lopez might have won the award for most wardrobe changes throughout the night, she looked exceptionally sophisticated in a yellow maxi dress cinched with a gold belt at the waist. Featuring a cool capelet style design, Jennifer matched her look with simple hoop earrings and a gold bangle at her wrist. Get inspired by celebrity fashion by adding a gold belt or some stand out leather pieces to your wardrobe.

The all-black sheer looks from Gwen, Ciara, and Karrueche were a nice contrast to the heavier leather pieces, especially since they kept things sleek without losing that edgy feel.

Ellie Goulding’s outfit sounds like a lot going on with the fringed tassels, silver links, and asymmetrical leather skirt, but somehow it all ties into that leather-and-metal theme of the night.

Jennifer Lopez’s yellow capelet dress with the gold belt was a refreshing break from all the black leather, and the simple accessories really kept it polished instead of flashy.
