Patent leather and PVC are being heralded as some of this fall’s biggest trends, popping up on runways like Louis Vuitton and Chanel. If a full patent leather look is a little too dramatic for you, take a cue from these It girls to incorporate these coveted, glossy styles into your wardrobe.

Patent leather was all the rage recently at Copenhagen Fashion Week in Denmark. Street style maven Veronika Heilbrunner made a bold steps in a pair of black patent leather pants from Haider Ackermann. She teamed her slick skinnies with a fitted crewneck in pastel pink and white high top sneakers for a casual yet cool look.

Pernille Teisbaek, a stylist and co-founder at Social Zoo, also was taken with the patent leather trend. She sported a shiny patent leather miniskirt with a pink top and a pinstripe blazer. In line with her effortless vibe, she rocked a pair of cat eye framed sunglasses to stay cool.

In need of more styling ideas for your patent leather items? Try to create a balance, such as wearing a form-fitting upper for added visual appeal. For a more low-key vibe, wear a simple tee and neutral skirt and spice it up with a patent leather coat. Or, mix things up by experimenting with different textures.
