2 way stretch on 4 way stretch

I'm sewing a piece of 2 way stretch pvc onto a piece of 4 way stretch pvc. Should I make the stretch on the 2 way stretch piece go vertical or horizontal?

We also found that using model acrylic paint works for really light translucent coats.  Good luck.
